Mr David Kim

Based in Singapore, David Kim is the Chief Executive where he manages MAPFRE RE’s operations of Singapore and Labuan with portfolios of businesses comprising of Non-Life Treaty (South-East Asia excluding Philippines, Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan and Multinational), and Life, Accident & Health (across Asia Pacific) businesses.

David joined MAPFRE RE in 2015 as the Non-Life Treaty Underwriter at MAPFRE RE’s Singapore Branch as a start-up member, responsible for Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Multinational Clients.

In 2019, David took on the additional role of Country Manager for the same markets, in charge of executing market-specific business plans across all LOB’s offered by MAPFRE RE.

He took on the position of Head of Underwriting for Singapore Branch in May 2020 before taking on his current position in January 2022.

Before he joined MAPFRE RE, he served in several capacities within the (re)insurance industry, including at Guy Carpenter as a Vice President in Treaty Broking, having begun his career at Hanwha General Insurance (Korea) in Marine Cargo Underwriting.
David is a Korean citizen with PR statuses Singapore as well as the UK, and is married with one son.
He holds a BSc degree in Economics from University College London in the UK.
